Meet Your Instructors

Ustadha Sophia Khan

Ustadha Sophia Khan is the Lead Instructor for Ahya. She is a spiritual advisor, educator, and community leader known for her engaging and relatable teaching style, particularly in her work with Muslim women and youth.

She currently serves as the Director of Girls’ Tarbiyah at the Islamic Center of Frisco. She studied Islamic Sharīʿah Law in Arabic at the University of Sharjah (U.A.E.) and also holds a degree in Psychology with a concentration in Mental Health. In addition, she spent over seven years studying under renowned scholars in the U.A.E. and taught a wide range of subjects under the Awqāf (Ministry of Islamic Affairs & Endowments).

Her specialties include Islamic Creed, Islamic character and manners, the Names of Allah, and Qur’anic exegesis. With her combined background in Islamic studies and psychology, Ustadha Sophia is passionate about supporting sisters in strengthening their connection with Allah and navigating life’s challenges through the Qur’an, the Beautiful Names of Allah, and Islamic psychology.

Imam Isa ibn Matta

Imam Isa ibn Matta is a Co-Founder, Director, and Lead Instructor for The Preservers. He is dedicated to serving the community through education, youth work, and da’wah.

He grew up in Kentucky, went to Christian Seminary School, and served as a Youth Minister for years until through the bounty of Allah, Imam Isa embraced Islam in 2013. Since then he has had the honor to study with over a dozen Shuyukh, ranging from such esteemed places of knowledge such as the University of Madinah, Azhar University, Morocco, Pakistan, India, and Palestine. Imam Isa has been blessed to complete some ijaazaat in the Holy Qur’an, Arabic, Qira’aat, Tafsir, History, Aqeedah, and Tajweed.

His secular studies include: Psychology, Philosophy, Communications, English, Arts, Project Management Professionalism, and certifications in Mental Health. He has also worked with many masajid, schools, and Islamic organizations from Texas all the way to the east coast.

Imam Isa strives to make Islam practical and accessible for people of all ages to help them meet Allah with Him pleased with them.

Brother Zohair Memon

Br. Zohair Memon serves as the Youth Director for MAS Dallas. He graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a degree in Information Technology Systems, where he was actively involved in the Muslim Students Association.

He has been engaged in community work through Young Muslims (YM), completed the ISRA Tarbiyah Intensive, Visionaries Leadership Academy, and Ilmiyyah with Hirz Institute. Currently, he is pursuing the ʿĀlimiyyah Program at Qalam Institute.

In his free time, Zohair values brotherhood, suhbah, and staying active through soccer.

Brother Zeeshan Parupia

Zeeshan Parupia graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with his Bachelors and Masters in Marketing. During his time at university, he was heavily involved with MSA, AΛΜ, and Masjid Youth Groups, and continues to serve as an advisor. He has studied previously with Suhbah Seminary, Al-Hirz Institute, and is a Visionaries Leadership Academy Graduate. Currently, he is enrolled in Qalam's Alimiyyah Program.

Zeeshan is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of The Preservers and Youth Director at the Islamic Association of Allen. He has been actively involved in youth work at Sachse Masjid and the Islamic Association of Collin County (IACC), and has previously worked with Salam Media, Brighter Horizons Academy, ISRA Foundation, and WhyIslam Dallas.

Br. Zeeshan loves to write poetry, perform spoken word, create short films, and coach upcoming leaders.
